Pecco Bagnaia failed to make it through to Q2 after a difficult Friday, with the Ducati rider ending the session in 16th position. His result raises further questions over whether he can reproduce the level of performance he showed at Motegi in 2025.
Bagnaia's Friday performance had already become an important indicator after his form was discussed ahead of the session. Lucy Wiryono highlighted Friday as the key point to watch when assessing whether Bagnaia could return to his previous competitive level.
“Baru kemarin kita ngobrolin tentang Pecco ya kan. Dan gue bilang apa sama kalian, kalau mau lihat Peko akan bagus atau enggak, lihat dari hari Jumat,” Lucy Wiryono said in a quote from her YouTube video.

Lucy had previously pointed out that if Bagnaia was already struggling on Friday, it would become increasingly difficult for him to repeat what he achieved at Motegi in 2025.
“Kalau Jumatnya sudah struggling, artinya kemungkinan besar dia tidak bisa mengulangi apa yang dia lakukan di Motegi tahun 2025 yang lalu,” she added.
Bagnaia ultimately failed to overturn that concern. The Ducati rider missed out on Q2 and could only finish the session in P16.
Elsewhere, the fight for Q2 produced a broad spread of manufacturers. Fabio Di Giannantonio was among the Ducati representatives to reach the session, while Yamaha also secured a place in the qualifying shootout.
Fabio Quartararo represented Yamaha in Q2. Jorge Martin also made it through, while Honda secured two representatives through Diogo Moreira and Johann Zarco.
The result means all five manufacturers will have representatives in Q2. Ducati, KTM, Honda, Aprilia and Yamaha will all be involved in the fight for qualifying positions on Saturday.
“Tapi ini seru ya, berarti lima pabrikan punya wakilnya masing-masing di Q2 besok. Ducati ada, KTM ada, Honda ada, Aprilia, dan bahkan Yamaha juga masuk ke Q2,” Lucy said.
Attention now turns to Saturday's qualifying session. While five manufacturers have secured representation in Q2, Bagnaia faces a significantly more difficult route after ending Friday down in 16th.
His performance in the next session will therefore be closely watched, particularly after his struggles were already evident from Friday's running.
