The Tissot Superpole session for the World Supersport class at Circuito Estoril in Portugal delivered an intensely competitive battle under excellent weather conditions, with an air temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and an asphalt temperature of 36 degrees Celsius. A total of 34 World Supersport riders immediately hit the track to secure the best grid positions for the weekend's opening race, highlighted by a stellar performance from Can Oncu.
The early stages of the session saw the provisional fastest lap change hands multiple times. Valentin Debise initially set the benchmark before Lucas Mahias and Matteo Ferrari progressively lowered the reference times at the top of the timesheets as the pace heated up.
However, Can Oncu seized control just past the ten-minute mark by posting a 1'39.185. The Turkish rider in the colors of the Dutch Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing squad continued to push his limits, eventually unleashing a brilliant lap of 1'39.011 to secure the pole position.

That flying lap allowed Can Oncu to not only claim pole but also shatter Dominique Aegerter's previous 2022 Superpole lap record of 1'39.046. The margins at the sharp end were remarkably close, with the top five riders separated by less than two-tenths of a second.
Lucas Mahias came agonizingly close with a 1'39.057, finishing just 0.046 seconds behind, while Tom Booth-Amos completed the front row for PTR Triumph Factory Racing after clocking a 1'39.110 to cap off a thrilling qualifying showdown.
