Oliver Solberg has revealed that he has not yet started contract negotiations with Toyota, despite believing his performances throughout his first full season with the Japanese manufacturer have been enough to earn an extension. The Swede says he has been fully focused on racing amid a busy second half of the season.

Solberg, who joined the factory Toyota team at the start of the year, began his campaign in spectacular fashion with victory at Rally Monte Carlo. However, he has also made several mistakes and suffered disappointing results since then, leaving his championship position unstable. Despite this, he believes his consistent speed has demonstrated his capability.

“Personally, I haven't had any discussions yet. It's been an incredibly busy summer with so many rallies, so I've simply tried to focus completely on driving and doing my best,” Solberg told Rallit.fi. “Hopefully the speed and performance I've shown during my first season will help build a strong future over the long term.”

Solberg stressed his happiness within the Toyota environment, which he describes as the best team in the world. For him, racing for the Japanese marque has been a dream come true, and he hopes to continue his career there. “I've had an amazing time at Toyota. It's been a dream place to be. In my opinion, it's the best team in the world,” he added.

Currently, Solberg sits fourth in the World Rally Championship standings, 45 points behind championship-leading team-mate Elfyn Evans. That gap shows that despite an impressive start, consistency remains a key area for Solberg to challenge at the top.

Solberg's comments come amid speculation about his future, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season. Toyota's decision to retain or release him will be heavily influenced by the remaining rallies, especially in proving he can minimize mistakes and score maximum points.
