Trackhouse Racing has been dealt a blow ahead of this weekend's MotoGP San Marino Grand Prix at Misano, as Ai Ogura has been forced to withdraw with a thumb injury that has not fully healed.
The Japanese rider sustained the injury during a motocross training crash near Tokyo a fortnight ago, while he was sitting third in the 2026 championship standings. Despite undergoing surgery with renowned doctor Xavier Mir, Ogura was still sidelined for last week's Aragon Grand Prix.
A scheduled x-ray on Tuesday was meant to assess his chances of racing at Misano, but the latest medical advice has ruled him out, even before MotoGP medical director Angel Charte could offer his assessment on Thursday.
Consequently, Trackhouse will field just one bike for Raul Fernandez at the San Marino GP. Lorenzo Savadori, who deputised for Ogura at Aragon at short notice, is unavailable for this round.
Ogura will remain in Barcelona for treatment, with an eye on returning for next week's Austrian GP. However, this setback makes his title challenge significantly harder, as he now trails championship leader Jorge Martin by 53 points.
