Lando Norris will start the Dutch Grand Prix from pole position after a late rain shower turned qualifying at Zandvoort into a frantic battle. The reigning world champion delivered a 1m 11.163s lap on his final run to edge out Mercedes' George Russell by just 0.102 seconds.

The threat of rain loomed large over Q3, forcing teams to push hard from the outset. Russell, who won Saturday's Sprint, will join Norris on the front row, while championship leader Kimi Antonelli and Oscar Piastri had to settle for third and fourth respectively.

There was no joy for the home fans as Max Verstappen could only manage seventh, finishing behind the Ferraris of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. The Dutchman's hopes of a strong result in front of his own crowd took a heavy blow.

Rain in Q3 Shakes Up the Order

After the first runs, Norris held provisional pole with a 1m 11.344s lap, while Russell trailed by 0.151s. Antonelli was only fifth, and Hamilton even further back in eighth, setting the stage for a tense final flying laps.

As rain began to fall in the dying minutes, Antonelli improved to take provisional pole, but Norris immediately responded to snatch it back. Russell slotted into second, and Piastri moved up to fourth. Ferrari had no answer, with Hamilton and Leclerc left to settle for fifth and sixth.

Q2: Lawson Shines, Gasly Misses Out

Q2 was relatively straightforward for the front-runners, but there was disappointment for Pierre Gasly and Nico Hulkenberg, both expected to challenge for a top-ten spot. Gasly finished 11th, joined in the elimination zone by Yuki Tsunoda, Hulkenberg, Franco Colapinto, Esteban Ocon, and Alex Albon. Liam Lawson impressed by making it through to Q3, while Norris set the pace with a 1m 11.628s lap, just 0.013s faster than Piastri.

Q1: Aston Martin's Double Disaster

Despite bringing upgrades and a new Honda power unit, Aston Martin endured a nightmare session with both cars knocked out in Q1. Fernando Alonso, tipped to progress, could only manage 18th, while Lance Stroll also failed to advance. Carlos Sainz was the fastest driver eliminated in 17th, ahead of Alonso, Stroll, Oliver Bearman, Valtteri Bottas, and Sergio Perez. Oscar Piastri topped Q1 with a 1m 12.610s lap.
