A major step has been taken in Noah Stromsted's racing career after being officially announced as Invicta Racing's second driver for the 2027 FIA Formula 2 season. The Danish driver will reunite with his 2026 Formula 3 team-mate, Freddie Slater, forming an exciting line-up for the squad.
The promotion comes after Stromsted spent two seasons racing in Formula 3 with the Italian Trident team. During his tenure with Trident, the 19-year-old secured a total of two victories, proving his raw speed and potential in the highly competitive junior single-seater category.
His rookie year in F3 immediately turned heads when he claimed his maiden victory in the sprint race at Spa-Francorchamps. That impressive campaign ultimately saw him finish sixth in the championship standings, though he was comfortably outscored by fellow rookie team-mate Rafael Camara.
Stromsted's junior journey also included a stint with the Mercedes-AMG F1 junior programme at the start of 2025, before parting ways with the manufacturer at the end of that year. He opted to remain with Trident for a challenging second season in 2026 as the team struggled to maintain its previous pace advantage.
Despite taking a stellar feature race win at the Red Bull Ring, Stromsted slipped to 10th in the standings, finishing 80 points behind championship runner-up Slater as Trident's performance dipped compared to 2024 and 2025. Looking ahead to his next chapter, the young Dane feels fully prepared for the ultimate step on the junior ladder.
Reflecting on the move, as reported by Formula Scout, Stromsted stated that he has learned a great deal competing in FIA F3 since 2024 and feels ready to take on the next challenge in his career. He highlighted Invicta's status as a benchmark team on the F2 grid and expressed eagerness to get to work.
"Over the past few seasons, Invicta Racing has established itself as the performance benchmark on the F2 grid and I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone in the team," Stromsted commented. He added that he cannot wait to start preparing for 2027 and is excited about what they can achieve together.
Invicta Racing team principal James Robinson expressed his delight at securing the signature of the promising youngster. Having monitored his progress closely in one of motorsport's toughest proving grounds, Robinson believes the Dane possesses championship potential.
"FIA F3 is one of the most competitive categories in junior single-seater motorsport and, after following his progress closely, we believe that Noah has all the qualities to be a future champion," Robinson said. He concluded by sharing his excitement about pairing Noah and Freddie Slater together for the upcoming campaign.
