Nicolo Bulega says negotiations over a move from WorldSBK to MotoGP in 2027 are approaching a final decision, although no agreement has yet been confirmed.
The Italian provided an update on his future after Friday practice at the UK WorldSBK round at Donington Park. Bulega said he and his management were still working to identify the best possible option before committing to his next step.
“I think we are close to having a clear idea for my future. We are working very hard with my agency to try to find the perfect solution for me in MotoGP next year. We are close,” Bulega said.

Bulega acknowledged that moving to the premier class would require several compromises because he would enter as a rookie. He said those sacrifices would not be limited to salary, but would involve the wider terms and conditions attached to his first MotoGP season.
“I knew before I started talking with MotoGP teams that, if I wanted to make this step, in the first year I would have to make some sacrifices. I am not talking only about money, but everything,” he said.
Bulega’s departure would create a major vacancy at the factory Aruba.it Racing Ducati team. He believes the squad should consider a current MotoGP rider who is unable to retain a grand prix seat, particularly because that experience could help with WorldSBK’s move to Michelin tyres.
Bulega also suggested that retaining an Italian rider could be an important consideration for team owner Stefano Cecconi. His immediate priority, however, remains completing the MotoGP negotiations before both his future and Ducati’s WorldSBK line-up can be formally settled.
