A dominant triple-win haul secured by Nicolo Bulega at the Estoril WorldSBK round marked a stellar return to form following a winless Cremona weekend. The Italian rider even suggested that round 11 of the 2026 season might have surpassed his other commanding performances from throughout the year.
While the Cremona round served as the venue where he clinched the world championship crown, it notably passed without a single victory for the championship leader, representing his first winless weekend of the 2026 campaign. Prior to that setback, he had only been beaten once all season long.
Bouncing back to take top honors in Race 1 at Estoril sent an immediate statement that his struggles at Cremona were purely circumstance-specific. As Sunday arrived, his relentless dominance resumed as he cruised to comfortable victories in both the Superpole Race and Race 2.

“I’m really happy,” Nicolo Bulega told WorldSBK.com following the conclusion of Race 2 at Estoril. “Amazing weekend again – one of the best, maybe, of the season because my feeling was good.”
“My pace today, Race 2, was incredible. Iker Lecuona was close to me at the beginning of the race, but then I continued to push and then my pace from half-race was a bit better so I could manage the tyre a bit better.”
“So, I’m really happy about my performance and about what my team did, so thanks a lot to them,” he added, praising the efforts executed by his crew.
His victory in the Superpole Race marked his 28th win of the season, officially breaking Alvaro Bautista's previous benchmark for the most wins in a single WorldSBK season, which stood at 27 wins set back in 2023. Furthermore, his towering tally of 664 points firmly cements 2026 as the most statistically successful season in the history of the championship from a points-scoring perspective.
Although he has frequently played down the significance of records compared to race wins themselves, the Italian admitted after the final race in Estoril that adding his name to the history books brings immense pride.
“It’s fantastic,” Bulega reflected on his historic milestone. “It’s not that I don’t care – I care, it really makes me proud a lot to achieve records and see my name on a big list.”
“But at the end, for me, important is to win more races, so I’s already thinking about Jerez and, if I can make more records, even better.”
