The FIM and Infront Moto Racing have unveiled further crucial details regarding the provisional 2027 MXGP World Championship calendar. Motocross enthusiasts can now mark their calendars as the iconic Agueda circuit secures its traditional spot, while Merida prepares to host a brand-new grand prix event.
According to the official release, the Portuguese Grand Prix is scheduled for May 22-23. Located roughly 75 kilometers south of Porto, the historic hard-pack track first hosted a world championship round back in 1985, when Dave Strijbos claimed victory in the 125cc class. The upcoming 2027 event will mark the 28th world championship race held at this legendary venue.
Spain is also doubling its presence on the global stage by securing a second round on the calendar. Scheduled for April 18, the race in Merida will officially be designated as the MXGP Extremadura. This addition reinforces Spain's prominent role in the series, complementing the season opener set in Almonte on February 28.
Meanwhile, questions remain regarding the season finale scheduled for October 3. The FIM confirmed that the exact location for the Swiss Grand Prix has not been finalized yet, leaving the venue status open as preparations continue for an action-packed global championship campaign.
The extensive 2027 schedule features a demanding worldwide tour spanning multiple continents, including stops in Argentina, China, and Australia. Teams and riders are already gearing up for what promises to be one of the most physically and technically demanding motocross seasons in recent history.
