The WorldSBK paddock is buzzing ahead of 2027. A wave of MotoGP riders is expected to reshape the Superbike grid, with at least four premier-class names linked to the series. With limited seats available, the battle for spots is heating up, forcing several big names to pack their bags.
One of the most talked-about scenarios is a seat swap between Nicolo Bulega and Franco Morbidelli. The Aruba.it Ducati rider is rumored to move up to MotoGP, replacing Morbidelli at VR46. If that happens, Morbidelli could head the other way, taking over Bulega's Ducati in WorldSBK.
On the Yamaha front, Jack Miller, who recently announced his departure from Prima Pramac Yamaha in MotoGP, is strongly linked with Pata Prometeon Yamaha in WorldSBK. If a deal is struck, Xavi Vierge would have to give up his seat. However, the Spaniard's career is far from over, as he is tipped to replace Alvaro Bautista at Barni Spark Racing.
That move could spell the end of Bautista's full-time racing career. At 41, the two-time World Champion would struggle to find another team, though a test rider role remains a possibility.
Meanwhile, Miguel Oliveira has just extended his contract with BMW, but his teammate Danilo Petrucci is set to leave at the end of the season. Brad Binder from KTM MotoGP is tipped to take over his seat. Petrucci himself admits he might step away from racing if no suitable offer comes.
Petrucci's WorldSBK stint has been rocky, with a hand injury in October and crashes at Most and Hungary hampering his performance. Now at 36, he is considering options outside racing.
Another name to watch is Alex Rins. The Spaniard is reportedly looking for a Ducati to race in WorldSBK, as MotoGP seats become scarce. Team Go Eleven is a potential destination, but Rins has yet to commit.
