Martin Wins British GP Sprint, Aprilia Sweeps Podium

Jorge Martin converted pole position into a commanding victory in the British Grand Prix sprint, extending his lead at the top of the MotoGP standings. The Aprilia rider led every lap at Silverstone, only facing a brief challenge from Ai Ogura before pulling clear in the final laps.

The win sealed a perfect weekend so far for Aprilia, with Marco Bezzecchi finishing third behind Martin and Ogura to secure the brand's first-ever sprint podium lockout. Ducati, meanwhile, endured a day to forget, with Alex Marquez their best finisher in fourth.

Race Highlights

Martin made a clean start from pole, while Ogura jumped to second and his team-mate Raul Fernandez slipped to sixth. Behind them, Marco Bezzecchi and Marc Marquez battled for fourth, making contact at Turn 4 before the factory Ducati rider found a way past into Stowe.

At the front, Martin began to edge clear, as Ogura and Fabio di Giannantonio squabbled over second. Ogura eventually secured the position and tried to close on Martin, but the Spaniard responded and stretched his lead again, taking the chequered flag 1.5s ahead. It was Martin's third sprint win of 2026.

Bezzecchi, after dropping behind Marquez, repassed him on lap five and then overtook di Giannantonio to grab third. Alex Marquez was the best Ducati in fourth, albeit seven seconds down on Martin. Pedro Acosta guided the factory KTM to sixth, ahead of Joan Mir and Franco Morbidelli.

Marc Marquez suffered a severe drop in performance in the second half, barely holding on to ninth at the flag. Fernandez was the most high-profile retiree, crashing at Turn 4 on lap four. Cal Crutchlow and Iker Lecuona also failed to finish after incidents on the opening lap.
