MotoGP Britain Sprint: Martin Wins, Aprilia Crush Ducati

Jorge Martin took a near-perfect victory in the MotoGP Sprint at Silverstone, leading from lights out to the chequered flag and further cementing his dominance at the top of the 2026 standings.

This win was more than just points. Martin stretched his lead to 17 points over Ai Ogura and 29 points over Marc Marquez, who finished down in ninth after struggling with a clearly defective tyre. Marquez, once a serious title threat, now faces a mountain to climb.

More striking was Aprilia's sheer superiority at the British track. Three Aprilias locked out the podium, with Marco Bezzecchi taking second and leapfrogging Marquez in the standings. For the first time in the modern MotoGP era, three Aprilias occupy the top three spots in the championship.

Ducati, usually the benchmark, struggled badly. Francesco Bagnaia could only manage eighth, while Fabio Di Giannantonio was the best Ducati rider in fifth. Tyre issues were the main culprit, leaving the Desmosedici far from its best.

With this result, the title fight has become even more intriguing. Martin leads with 220 points, ahead of Ogura and Bezzecchi. Marquez, once the favourite, now has to rethink his approach. Can Aprilia maintain this dominance until the end of the season? We'll find out in Sunday's main race.
