Miller Blunt on Future: 'I Don't Want to Be Somewhere I'm Not Wanted'

Jack Miller found himself in the spotlight again after the Silverstone race—not just for finishing 13th, but for his outspoken comments about his future. The Australian rider made it clear he has no intention of staying where he isn't wanted, a statement that immediately sparked paddock chatter.

In his post-race interview, Jack Miller admitted he gave his all but still fell short. “I gave everything today, and unfortunately that was only good for 13th. Fabio and I were racing together again for the whole race. That's the level we're at right now, unfortunately,” he said.

Miller also explained how difficult it is to fight the front runners when the bike lacks the pace. “We try to fight them, but we can only do it for so long. There's a point where the risks you have to take—whether under braking or on corner exit—start to hurt in the second half of the race. It's unavoidable,” he added.

With a two-week break before Aragon, Miller hopes the team can find something. “We have time off, hopefully we can improve a bit for the next race,” he said.

When asked about his future, Miller didn't hold back. “I'm not bitter. I've had a good career, and if they can't see my value, that's fine. I feel I'm an asset to any team I go to, in any championship. I don't want to be somewhere I'm not wanted, so I'll leave and hopefully do something where they do want me.”

He also commented on the slippery Silverstone track and the difficulty of managing tires. “Everyone was on the medium tire, but in a long race like Silverstone this year, it was even harder to keep the tires under control. You could see that with all the crashes,” Miller explained.

Miller said the last seven or eight laps were terrifying. “Everyone was riding carefully to avoid crashing, but even so, those last laps weren't fun at all,” he said.

On the other hand, Miller praised Raul Fernandez for his impressive performance. “They are very good at tire management, as we've seen on all kinds of tracks. In Argentina, for example, they've always been strong at conserving and managing the tire. This year especially, I feel they've really managed to put the whole package together,” Miller concluded.
