Max Verstappen has officially extended his contract with Red Bull until the end of the 2030 Formula 1 season, cementing his status as one of the highest-paid athletes in the world. The agreement ensures the Dutch driver remains a cornerstone of Red Bull's project amid fierce competition in F1.
Verstappen, now 28, has clinched four consecutive world titles from 2021 to 2023. Despite a challenging 2026 season where Red Bull has yet to secure a victory and often trails Mercedes and at least one of McLaren or Ferrari, Verstappen has consistently delivered podium finishes. This performance sustains his value to sponsors and the team.
According to Forbes, Verstappen ranks 14th on the list of the world's highest-paid athletes, ahead of NFL star Patrick Mahomes, Manchester City's Erling Haaland, and golf superstar Rory McIlroy. His total earnings reach $86 million (£63m), with $78 million (£57.2m) from on-track activities and $8 million (£5.8m) from off-track ventures.

The new deal is expected to boost Verstappen's earnings significantly. In F1 terms, he now trails only Lewis Hamilton in annual income. Hamilton, a seven-time champion, is estimated to earn $100 million (£73.3m) in 2025, with $70 million (£51.3m) from racing and $30 million (£22m) off-track.
F1 Drivers' Net Worth Comparison
In terms of net worth, Verstappen is estimated to be third among F1 drivers, with a value between $210-280 million (£154-202m). He trails Fernando Alonso, who is estimated at $260 million (£190m), and Hamilton, who tops the list with an estimated $586 million (£429.8m).
Verstappen's new contract not only secures his future at Red Bull but also strengthens his position as a global icon. With consistent performances and immense commercial appeal, Verstappen is poised to remain a central figure in motorsport for years to come.
