Max Verstappen has playfully dismissed George Russell after the Mercedes driver revealed his team opted against using cooling vests due to Formula 1 cost-cap limitations.
With the Sepang International Circuit officially declared a Heat Hazard under FIA regulations, teams were given the green light to equip cars with special cooling mechanisms. However, Russell admitted that the German outfit prioritized car development over purchasing the expensive cooling gear, leaving drivers to endure sweltering cockpit temperatures.
While Russell likened driving in Malaysia to being locked inside a sauna, Verstappen reacted with a lighthearted jab, suggesting that competitors should not exaggerate the physical demands of tropical racing.

The reigning world champion stated that he feels comfortable without any auxiliary cooling systems, emphasizing that rigorous physical conditioning and heat acclimation are fundamental duties for any elite motorsport athlete.
Reflecting on his early years in the pinnacle of motorsport, Verstappen explained how he trained inside heated environments to build his stamina, allowing him to seamlessly manage extreme temperatures without relying on technical shortcuts.
