The Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort was red-flagged after just one lap following a massive accident for Max Verstappen. The incident occurred at the end of the opening lap on a damp track, when Verstappen lost control of his Red Bull after clipping the white line on the inside of the final corner, Luyendyk, a banked, flat-out turn leading onto the main straight.
Verstappen's car slammed head-on into the outside wall, then crossed the track and came to a stop on the inside. The Dutchman quickly reported he was "OK" and apologised to his team for ending his race prematurely.
Verstappen was fortunate not to be collected by other cars. Pierre Gasly of Alpine took avoiding action, while Audi's Gabriel Bortoleto narrowly avoided a huge accident after spinning in front of his teammate Nico Hulkenberg. All cars gathered in the pit lane awaiting the restart.

Before the incident, Verstappen was running seventh after a disappointing qualifying session. Polesitter Lando Norris retained his lead during a chaotic start, with championship leader Kimi Antonelli passing George Russell for second.
This crash marked a dramatic end to Verstappen's final home race at Zandvoort. With the red flag, race officials had to clear debris and repair barriers before racing could resume. The impact on the championship standings is also under scrutiny, as Verstappen lost valuable points in front of his home crowd.
