Driver Maverick Vinales demonstrated positive progress in his physical recovery after completing a comprehensive schedule of race and post-race testing at the MotoGP Catalunya event. Vinales, who recently underwent shoulder surgery, confirmed that his strength and mobility are returning to optimal levels for controlling a premier class motorcycle after four consecutive days of high-intensity track activity.
Vinales had previously been absent since the second round in Brazil to undergo a surgical procedure to remove loose metalwork from his shoulder, an injury sustained at Sachsenring last July. The extended program at Catalunya served as a critical benchmark for the rider to assess his physical stability and muscular capacity to withstand the vehicle's load, particularly when managing the high G-forces encountered in high-speed corners.
During the Monday test session, the Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider evaluated several new technical components, including a revised aerodynamic package and modified suspension settings. Initial feedback indicates a positive response, with the new configuration expected to provide enhanced stability and more efficient airflow at high velocities, reducing drag and improving overall cornering efficiency.

The implementation of these aero and suspension updates is planned for the upcoming round at Mugello, contingent on the material availability from KTM. Vinales emphasized that these technical updates are crucial for increasing the bike's performance ceiling, as he still requires precise fine-tuning of the base setup to achieve an ideal balance between mechanical grip and aerodynamic stability.
Vinales' observation that his body has started to "remember" how to ride a MotoGP bike points to the recovery of muscle memory following a significant competitive hiatus. This process involves re-adapting to dynamic load distribution and the extreme physical pressures required to maintain cornering speed, which had been compromised by the limited range of motion following his shoulder surgery.
The synergy between Vinales' physical restoration and the implementation of KTM's technical updates is expected to yield significant performance gains for the Tech3 squad. With improving physical condition and a more efficient technical package, Vinales is now focused on reaching peak fitness before the intensive phase of the 2026 season to increase the team's competitiveness at the front of the grid.
