Marc Marquez showcased his dominance at MotorLand Aragon, clinching a commanding sprint race victory and closing the gap in the MotoGP championship standings.
Starting from second, Marc Marquez wasted no time, diving up the inside of pole-sitter Marco Bezzecchi at Turn 1. The move opened the door for his brother, Alex Marquez, to also slip past Bezzecchi.
The Marquez brothers then controlled the race, aided by the longer-lasting medium rear tyre. Bezzecchi, on the soft rear, struggled in the latter stages and had to settle for third.
Jorge Martin's Battle in a Fierce Contest
Championship leader Jorge Martin had a less smooth start, engaging in a robust duel with Raul Fernandez that dropped him behind Pedro Acosta. Although he fought back, a mistake at the penultimate corner allowed Acosta to retake fourth, leaving Martin fifth.
The result keeps Martin 29 points ahead of Bezzecchi and 33 clear of Marquez. However, the pressure is mounting as Marquez's form continues to rise.
Notable Performances from Midfield
Fermin Aldeguer impressed by climbing from 10th to sixth, overtaking Diogo Moreira on the final lap. Moreira took top Honda honours in seventh. Meanwhile, Fabio Quartararo retired early after his Yamaha appeared to suffer an engine issue.
