Marc Marquez continues to close in on Valentino Rossi's legendary record in the all-time MotoGP winners' list. His victory at the 2026 Aragon Grand Prix was his 77th, further cementing his status as the most successful active rider in the modern era.
Rossi still leads with 89 premier class wins, a tally he started building in 2000 and last felt in 2017. However, the 12-win gap is now feeling increasingly narrow, especially as the 33-year-old Marquez continues to show consistent performance with the factory Ducati team.
Interestingly, of the top ten on the all-time winners' list, only two are still active: Marquez and his teammate, Pecco Bagnaia. Bagnaia remains ninth with 31 wins, last victorious in Japan 2025.
History records that the first premier class winner was Harold Daniell, who won the 1949 British Grand Prix—then run as the Isle of Man Senior TT. Since then, the list has grown, from the era of Giacomo Agostini to Casey Stoner.
With the season still long, the question is no longer whether Marquez can surpass Rossi, but when he will do it. If his winning trend continues, the 89-win record once thought untouchable could fall before Marquez retires.
