Marquez: Can't Rely Only on Favorable Tracks to Win Title

Marc Marquez has admitted he cannot rely solely on circuits that suit him to win the 2024 MotoGP world championship. The statement comes after he lost crucial points at Silverstone, further increasing his deficit to the championship leader.

The Ducati rider arrived in England full of confidence after a dominant victory at the Sachsenring, where he had closed the gap to Jorge Martin by 22 points. However, the Silverstone weekend turned into a nightmare. Marquez lost another 22 points to Martin, and now trails the championship lead by 40 points. To make matters worse, he was also overtaken by Marco Bezzecchi in the battle for second place in the standings.

At Silverstone, Marquez knew he had to limit the damage, but the result was worse than expected. He wasn't even the best Ducati rider at the finish, both in the sprint and the main race. This inconsistent performance is a serious concern for the Borgo Panigale factory team.

However, the eight-time world champion insists that relying only on favorable circuits will not be enough to compete for the title. “If you want to fight for the championship, you can't wait for your circuits,” he said, as reported by AS. “You have to give your best on all tracks, and at the moment we are not doing that.”

Marquez added that a 40-point gap is not huge, but it's still a full race weekend. “40 points is not a big distance, but it's still a whole weekend,” he said. “Now there are three or four circuits that we must approach with determination if we want to achieve something.”
