Marc Marquez's brake problems in the Austrian MotoGP were also felt by another Ducati rider, Fermin Aldeguer. Both riders reported similar symptoms: inconsistent front brakes and a loss of feeling at the lever from corner to corner.
Marquez, who started from pole, suddenly lost performance mid-race. He dropped back before eventually finishing fifth. Aldeguer, who started 12th, experienced the same. "I had a lot of problems with my front brake. It wasn't constant, in some corners I arrived without brakes, something strange," Aldeguer said.
This incident adds to the challenges Ducati faces in the 2026 season. Despite being known as the strongest manufacturer, technical issues like this could give rivals like Yamaha and Aprilia an opening. Aldeguer acknowledged that he heard other Ducati riders struggled similarly. "It seems other Ducatis also struggled in this way," he added.
Besides brake issues, Aldeguer also complained about a lack of grip in the centre of the rear tyre. This made straight-line braking and corner exit acceleration more difficult. "Rear grip when leaning was quite good, but in the centre of the tyre there was nothing. We can improve and take steps," he explained.
Nevertheless, Aldeguer still felt his race was positive. He recovered many positions and was running fifth before finishing eighth. "The race was quite good because we started 12th. We recovered a lot of positions and arrived at fifth with a good pace in the middle part," he said.
Marquez eventually finished fifth after recovering in the second half. He admitted the brake issue cost him valuable time, but he pushed to the maximum. This result tightens the championship battle, especially with riders like Binder also performing competitively.
Going forward, Ducati needs to address this brake issue quickly to maintain dominance. Meanwhile, Aldeguer and Marquez will continue working with the team to find a solution. "We can improve and take steps," Aldeguer concluded.
