The brilliant victory secured by Marco Bezzecchi during the main Grand Prix race at the Lusail International Circuit has successfully extended his mathematical chances in the championship battle. However, the Italian rider remains pragmatic, admitting that he has lacked the extraordinary turnaround needed to overhaul his rivals in the standings.

The factory Aprilia rider put on a dominant display throughout the 22-lap encounter in Qatar, claiming his sixth grand prix victory of the campaign and reducing his overall deficit in the championship standings, though a significant gap still remains at the top.

With only two rounds remaining on the calendar in Portugal and Valencia, Bezzecchi is technically still in mathematical contention for the title. Nevertheless, achieving such a feat would require an improbable scenario where he wins every remaining race while his closest adversaries fail to score.

Reflecting on his title prospects following the Qatar Grand Prix, Bezzecchi offered a grounded assessment of his current championship standing. "I mean, I need a miracle, but it looks like this season there have been no miracles for me," Bezzecchi remarked when questioned about his title chase.

Despite the steep uphill battle, the Italian expressed satisfaction simply from being able to fight at the sharp end of the premier class field against elite competition. "But it is good to have an opportunity to be fighting with them. In the end, Jorge and Marc are both super, super good riders," he added.

This stellar Sunday performance served as a resounding redemption for Bezzecchi following a frustrating Saturday during the Tissot Sprint race. He had previously crashed out of the short race after a first-corner racing incident involving Marc Marquez.

Rather than dwelling on the setback, the Saturday clash provided the Aprilia star with an extra reservoir of determination to bounce back strongly for the main event. He emphasized that maintaining calm and executing a flawless start were the keys to his redemption.

"It was a wonderful race for me. I was very motivated after yesterday; that was a sprint that I felt I could have fought for the victory," Bezzecchi explained regarding his mental reset ahead of Sunday's lights out.

He also brushed off the previous day's collision as an unavoidable racing incident that ultimately fueled his competitive fire. "It is something that can happen in racing. But, anyway, this gave me an extra push to try to bounce back today and make the perfect start with everything going well," he stated.

Throughout the demanding grand prix distance, Bezzecchi maintained precise tyre management on a circuit notorious for aggressive degradation, keeping his composure from start to finish without showing signs of panic.

"I am glad that I was able to make it and super thankful to the team and Aprilia. It was good. I was confident on the bike and I felt good through all of the race," Bezzecchi concluded as he looks ahead to the final two rounds of the season.
