MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Marco Bezzecchi has been taken to hospital following a heavy crash during the 2026 Dutch MotoGP at TT Circuit Assen. The Aprilia Racing rider crashed at Turn 15 on the second lap while attempting to challenge Marc Marquez for position.
After tumbling through the gravel, Bezzecchi was transported to the circuit Medical Centre where he was examined by MotoGP Medical Director Dr. Ángel Charte. Aprilia later confirmed that the Italian had been transferred to the Universitair Medisch Centrum Groningen for further diagnostic imaging.
According to the team's official statement, Bezzecchi remained fully conscious and retained normal movement in all four limbs. However, due to severe pain caused by the high-energy impact, doctors opted for additional medical scans to rule out any underlying injuries.

The retirement cost Bezzecchi the MotoGP championship lead, with team-mate Jorge Martin moving to the top of the standings after finishing third. Meanwhile, Ai Ogura claimed his maiden MotoGP victory ahead of Raul Fernandez, completing another outstanding day for Aprilia machinery.
The Assen crash marked Bezzecchi's third consecutive Sunday without scoring points following the Balaton incident and his suspension from the Brno Grand Prix. Aprilia confirmed that further medical updates will be released once the hospital evaluation has been completed.
