Marco Bezzecchi rebounded brilliantly from his Sprint disappointment by delivering a masterclass performance to dominate the 2026 Qatar MotoGP main race at the Lusail International Circuit. The Italian rider launched off the line cleanly and controlled the pace from lights to flag, keeping his mathematical championship hopes alive with a stellar victory.
Further down the order, world championship leader Marc Marquez mounted a determined recovery after an early tussle that saw him briefly drop positions. The Spanish star snatched second place from Raul Fernandez in the closing stages of the 22-lap grand prix, though missing out on his first mathematical opportunity to clinch the 2026 world title in the desert.
The early laps provided plenty of action as Fernandez surged past Marquez through the opening turns to briefly establish a strong showing for the Noale factory. Meanwhile, Pedro Acosta initially held strong in the podium fight before encountering familiar tyre pressure complications, forcing him to cede position back to Marquez mid-race much like his struggles earlier in the season.

In the battle for minor points, reigning title contender Jorge Martin struggled to replicate his Sprint heroics and had to salvage a seventh-place finish. Late race attrition also handed crucial maiden premier-class points to the Honda stand-in after a punishing physical encounter for the mid-pack runners.
The paddock will now enjoy a brief weekend off before heading into the final two crucial rounds of the 2026 campaign in Portimao and Valencia, marking the thrilling conclusion to the current 1000cc and Michelin era.
