MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia Racing admitted he is still lacking confidence in key areas of the Goiania circuit during the 2026 Brazilian Grand Prix, particularly under braking.
The Italian endured a difficult start to the weekend, finishing only 20th in Friday’s Practice session, which he attributed to technical issues with his bike. However, his performance improved significantly on Saturday morning, securing second place in qualifying despite a crash at Turn 4 during FP2.
Bezzecchi progressed through Q1 alongside Fabio Di Giannantonio before both riders contended at the front in Q2. Despite that recovery, he was unable to convert his qualifying pace into a podium finish during the delayed Sprint Race.

In the 15-lap Sprint, Bezzecchi lost a potential podium position after making a mistake on lap six, allowing his Aprilia Racing team-mate Jorge Martin to move into third. He ultimately finished fourth without being able to regain the position.
“It was a decent day considering where I was coming from yesterday,” Bezzecchi told MotoGP.com.
“It’s not bad. Of course, I wanted a bit more in the Sprint, but I knew my pace wasn’t good enough.”
Bezzecchi highlighted that his main limitation remains confidence in braking zones, which is affecting his ability to fully commit in critical sections of the circuit.
“I missed a bit of confidence in some places of the track, especially in a couple of brakings, and I’m always a bit on the limit.”
“In fact, I made a couple of mistakes and Jorge passed me.”
Despite missing out on the podium, Bezzecchi identified positive signs in his late-race pace, where he showed improved consistency compared to the early stages of the Sprint.
“Overall, it was not too bad considering my feeling. At the end, especially, my pace was not bad.”
“I was improving in the last couple of laps and it’s positive. Let’s try to work hard for the race tomorrow.”
His fourth-place finish leaves him just two points behind championship leader Pedro Acosta, who scored only one point for ninth place in the Sprint. This keeps the title battle tightly contested in the early phase of the season.
Bezzecchi also carries momentum into Sunday’s race, aiming to extend a three-race winning streak dating back to the end of last season, starting from the Portuguese Grand Prix.
With braking confidence identified as the key area for improvement, Bezzecchi faces a critical challenge to convert his underlying pace into a stronger result in the full-distance race. Adapting to the evolving track conditions in Goiania will be decisive in determining whether he can return to the podium.
MotoGP Brazil 2026 now moves to the Grand Prix race, where consistency, technical execution, and rider confidence will define the outcome in an increasingly competitive championship battle.
