The roar of engines at Motegi delivered world-class drama as the lights went out for the 2026 Japanese Grand Prix main race. Right from the opening corner, Jorge Martin seized the holeshot to lead the pack. However, unrelenting pressure immediately came from Marc Marquez, who shadowed closely in second place, sandwiched right in the middle of a factory Aprilia formation.
A tactical masterclass unfolded as the race crossed its halfway mark. Marquez launched a crucial maneuver at Turn 9 on lap eleven to snatch the race lead. Despite a fierce response from his rivals and dwindling rear tyre grip in the closing stages, the reigning champion managed his pace masterfully to cross the finish line 1.3 seconds clear.

This crucial victory blows the championship battle wide open. Taking home the maximum 25 points, Marquez has slashed Martin's title lead at the top of the standings down to a razor-thin two points, setting up an intense showdown for the remainder of the season.

Further back, the battle for the final podium spot went down to the wire. Marco Bezzecchi had to pull out all the stops to fend off a charging Enea Bastianini, who set a blistering pace in the closing laps. Bezzecchi held firm to secure third place, leaving Bastianini to settle for fourth.
