The Motegi circuit witnessed another masterclass as Marc Marquez fended off title rival Jorge Martin to secure victory at the 2026 Japanese Grand Prix. Martin controlled the initial phase by leading the opening ten laps, but the Ducati star executed a decisive overtake before managing his gap expertly to the checkered flag.
According to Crash.net, the Grand Prix was heavily influenced by tire strategy after Michelin withdrew the soft rear compound due to blistering issues during the Sprint. Organizers extended the Sunday morning warm-up session to twenty minutes, allowing the field to test the heat-resistant hard rear compound for the very first time over the weekend.
Once Marquez seized the lead, he maintained composure to keep the Aprilia rider at bay. Further down the order, an intense battle for the final podium spot saw Marco Bezzecchi narrowly fend off Enea Bastianini, as the entire grid ultimately settled on a medium front and hard rear tire combination for the main race.

Meanwhile, Johann Zarco faced a double long lap penalty stemming from an incident during the extended warm-up session, capping off a dramatic weekend of technical adjustments and fierce on-track duels in Japan.
