The landscape of the hard enduro world championship shifted dramatically as Manuel Lettenbichler triumphed on the final day of the Sea to Sky event in Kemer, Turkey. The factory KTM rider conquered the grueling 64-kilometer Mountain Race to the 2,365-meter summit in brilliant fashion, taking a massive leap forward in his title defense campaign. The grueling test of machine durability and human endurance showcased why the championship battle remains the pinnacle of off-road motorsport.
The 64-kilometer trek featuring 16 checkpoints turned into a fierce battle of contrasting rhythms right from the start. Lettenbichler launched a lightning start to set the benchmark in the opening sector, while Mario Roman initially lost ground in 16th place, dropping around 53 seconds behind. The Spanish rider delivered an impressive counter-attack through the canyon, clawing back over a minute to look like the faster man for large stretches, before the race was ultimately decided in the most punishing sections near the summit.
The decisive moments unfolded in the rock garden and the monstrous final climb, where competitors bled precious minutes. Lettenbichler fought back fiercely through the brutal terrain to cross the finish line with a 4-minute and 11-second advantage over his closest challenger. Reflecting on his performance, Manuel Lettenbichler stated, "I really wanted to win, but I wasn't entirely sure how it would go. Starting from the third row meant I had to push as hard as possible right from the first river crossing."

Drama off the racing line added further tension when Teo Kabakchiev, who initially crossed the finish line in second place, was disqualified by race control for receiving unauthorized outside assistance after getting wire tangled in his rear wheel near the finish. The penalty elevated James Moore into the final podium spot in third, with Mitch Brightmore moving up to fourth. The resulting points shake-up completely rearranged the championship standings heading into the season finale.
Lettenbichler now commands the championship standings with 197 points, holding a comfortable 32-point cushion over Brightmore's 165 tally. With a maximum of 33 points up for grabs at the final round in Spain, the title is technically still open, but practically secured as the German rider needs only two points to seal the crown. The upcoming Hixpania event in Spain from October 23 to 25 awaits as the definitive coronation venue.
