Miguel Oliveira faces a major challenge to secure a podium finish at the Estoril WorldSBK round after taking a solid fourth place in Race 1. The BMW rider admitted that fighting for the top three on Sunday will require maximum effort against fierce competition.

During Saturday's Race 1, the Portuguese rider showed early aggression to overtake Alex Lowes. However, he was unable to bridge the gap to Alberto Surra in the battle for the final podium spot, ultimately settling for a respectable fourth position at the chequered flag.

Top-five finishes were the primary target coming into the weekend following several difficult rounds for the BMW squad. Despite achieving that goal on Saturday, Miguel Oliveira knows that stepping up to the rostrum on Sunday will be an entirely different test.

"Saturday, we did the target that we set ourselves before the weekend," said Miguel Oliveira, speaking to WorldSBK.com after Race 1 at Estoril. He acknowledged that a podium finish would demand immense sweat and a bit of luck.

"I knew that a podium would be very sweated and with a bit of luck. Eventually, the pace was actually there so I was happy about that. Did a couple of mistakes and with a little bit of fine-tuning I hope that we can get closer tomorrow," Oliveira stated regarding his race performance.

He also highlighted the strong form of his rivals, noting, "But it will be difficult, it’s a big challenge. Also Alex Lowes is riding fantastic and it’s making life a little bit hard, so we have to be on our best moment with the bike to be able to challenge for more."

Recent ergonomic modifications introduced since Cremona have significantly helped improve his riding position and base setup. While factory Ducati machines remain considerably faster, the positive momentum gives the team strong encouragement moving forward.
