Lewis Hamilton believes Ferrari must commit every available resource if it is to challenge Mercedes for the 2026 Formula 1 world championships.
Hamilton's victory in Barcelona marked the first non-Mercedes win of the season and demonstrated Ferrari's growing competitiveness. However, the seven-time world champion stressed that one victory alone is not enough to overturn Mercedes' advantage.
Ferrari introduced its latest power unit specification for the Austrian Grand Prix as part of the ongoing SF-26 development programme. Hamilton described the update as a step forward, while acknowledging that it does not yet eliminate the performance deficit to Mercedes.

"The opportunity is there, but everyone has to come together and keep developing. We now have a North Star that shows us the direction we need to go. The new engine is a step forward. It doesn't close the whole gap, but it's one foot forwards, and I'm really thankful for everyone's work," said Hamilton.
Hamilton also identified Mercedes as the benchmark team in 2026 because of its pace, consistency and overall package. He believes Ferrari must continue developing every aspect of the car while maintaining full commitment across the organisation if it wants to sustain its title challenge.
Despite the scale of the task, Hamilton insisted the championship fight remains alive. He believes that as long as Ferrari continues following its current development direction and every member of the team contributes, catching Mercedes is difficult but not impossible.
