The opening day of the Adelaide Hills Rally served up a roller-coaster of action featuring multiple lead changes and heavy attrition in testing wet conditions. Amid the chaos, Lewis Bates and co-driver Anthony McLoughlin navigated the treacherous stages to claim a hard-fought heat victory.
The factory Toyota duo managed to fend off a fierce challenge, ultimately taking the win by a slender margin of just five seconds over their closest rivals. The slippery gravel tracks pushed every crew to the absolute limit from the very first stage of the morning.
Securing second place at the end of the grueling day was the Skoda Fabia Rally2 crew of Scott Pedder and Glenn Macneall. Meanwhile, the sister GR Yaris piloted by Harry Bates and Coral Taylor rounded out the overall podium in third position.

Further down the field, crucial championship points were distributed in the supporting classes as attrition claimed several contenders. Josh Redhead and Ray Winwood-Smith capitalized on misfortune striking their rivals to secure vital WOLF SPORTS Cup points.
The Adelaide Hills Rally action resumes tomorrow with another ten demanding stages making up Heat 2, promising another thrilling day of motorsport competition.
