Lewis Bates has firmly tightened his grip on the Australian Rally Championship crown following a stellar performance at the demanding Adelaide Hills rally. Partnered with co-driver Anthony McLoughlin, the championship leader navigated through treacherous, rain-soaked stages to secure crucial points and extend his advantage at the summit of the standings. Dilansir dari Speedcafe, the challenging conditions throughout the weekend pushed both machinery and crews to their absolute physical and technical limits.
The rally presented severe obstacles right from the opening night when heavy rain struck during the second pass of the super special stage. Dealing with extremely slippery low-grip surfaces while sweeping the road as the first car on the entry list proved to be a massive test of car control and setup. Despite these hurdles, the crew maintained formidable pace.
“Super stoked to win the event. It was a really challenging event from Friday night, actually, with the rain coming for the second pass of the super special,” Lewis Bates reflected on the difficult weekend.

Meanwhile, intra-team rivalries provided fierce entertainment as Harry Bates mounted a stunning comeback on the final day. Claiming victory in Heat 2 by a 19.9-second margin after dominating seven of the nine stages, Harry Bates secured a dominant 1-2 finish for Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia. The impressive charge successfully brought him back into championship contention, narrowing the deficit to within 80 points of the lead heading into the season finale.
Drama struck the chasing pack early on Sunday morning when title contender Scott Pedder suffered a costly crash. Just 300 metres into the first stage of the day, Scott Pedder and co-driver Glenn Macneall went off the road, hitting a post and tumbling down an embankment to break a steering arm. Although the team managed remarkable repairs to get the Skoda back on track after service and salvage valuable championship points in eighth place, the incident extended their gap to 41 points behind Lewis Bates.
With the battle for supremacy intensifying, the EROAD Australian Rally Championship now shifts its focus toward the dramatic season finale in Victoria for the upcoming Gippsland Rally on November 20-22.
