Leon Davies Targets Third ANDRA Title at Alice Springs

Leon Davies is gearing up for the new ANDRA Sportsman Series season with a clear goal: to clinch his third Top Sportsman championship. The 2023 and 2025 title winner will kick off his campaign at Alice Springs Inland Dragway, a venue that holds plenty of fond memories for him.

Davies has tasted victory at the track before, winning there in 2024, and he hopes to replicate that success at the Desert Nationals. But this time, he arrives with a new arsenal. After feeling his car lacked competitiveness in the latter half of last season, Davies decided to make several technical upgrades to bring the car back to its best.

“Towards the end of last season, I decided I needed to do some things with the car to get it back up to scratch,” said Davies. “It now has a new exhaust system, new converter, and some other stuff. Hopefully it will go well.”

The Australian racer also recalled his past success at Alice Springs and is curious to see how the updated package performs on the track. “We have had some good success at Alice Springs in the past. It will be interesting to try the car there again with the new things we have. Hopefully we can come off the trailer and run consistently and be as competitive as we have been previously – and of course, have some fun!”

With bonus points on offer, the Desert Nationals represent an early opportunity for Davies to make a statement in his latest title bid. “We are definitely going to have another crack at the title, for sure! That is the plan,” Davies asserted. “It all starts in Alice Springs. With two rounds and bonus points on offer, it would be a very good start for our title tilt if we can get another win, or two, there.”
