Lawson: Racing Bulls' Development System Strongest Since 2023

Liam Lawson believes Racing Bulls currently has its strongest development system since he joined the Formula 1 team in 2023. Heading into the summer break, Lawson feels the team has found the right rhythm in maximizing the VCARB03 package.

This season, Racing Bulls has been a standout in the tight midfield battle. Lawson, who struggled in 2025, is now a consistent points scorer, while rookie teammate Arvid Lindblad has enjoyed a six-race points streak. This underscores the team's significant progress from their Faenza base.

An effective development program has been key. Every upgrade brought to the track has delivered performance gains, a crucial achievement in a season where midfield teams are locked in an intense development war. Lawson asserts, "On the development side, it's by far the strongest."

Lawson revealed that everything has clicked into place this year. The team has not had to take a step back to fix failed packages, unlike previous seasons. "Everything we've brought has been working very, very well. That's something that is hard in Formula 1," he said.

He added that the team has become very strong at maximizing its package each weekend. "We start a lot closer to our quali setups and have quite an aggressive car, but it's been good to drive. I've been very, very happy with that," Lawson explained.

The key, according to Lawson, is consistency within the team and factory. Despite personnel changes, he emphasized the hard work of everyone behind the scenes. "There are a lot of people working behind the scenes. When the first upgrades work, you head in a good direction," he stated.

The arrival of Dan Fallows as technical director in April was seen as a potential catalyst. However, Lawson stressed that the progress is not down to one individual, but a collective effort. "It's not just one person. Everyone is working well together," he concluded.

With a solid foundation, Racing Bulls could be in a strong position at the end of the season. Lawson is optimistic about continuing the midfield fight and possibly springing a surprise.
