Lando Norris Accepts Blame For Singapore F1 Clash With Piastri

Lando Norris has officially accepted full blame for his controversial collision with McLaren Formula 1 team-mate Oscar Piastri during the sprint race in Singapore. After initially defending his aggressive move and sparking viral reactions on social media following Saturday's action, the British driver completely shifted his stance ahead of the main grand prix.

The dramatic clash unfolded on the final lap of the sprint while both drivers were fiercely battling for fourth and fifth position. Norris attempted a lunge down the inside of Piastri at Turn 5, resulting in unavoidable contact that severely crippled the team's points haul. McLaren walked away from the sprint with just a single point courtesy of Norris finishing in eighth place.

The chaotic incident drew immediate ire from team principal Andrea Stella, who did not mince words and labelled the intra-team crash as completely unacceptable. Stella promised a comprehensive internal review alongside both drivers, emphasizing that the material damage and lost points posed a serious threat to the Woking-based squad's operational targets.

While the race stewards ruled that neither driver bore predominant blame, and both avoided taking responsibility during Saturday's media sessions, Sunday brought a starkly different attitude. Having secured a fourth-place finish in the grand prix proper, Norris returned to the media pen with a softened and accountable tone.

Reflecting on his previous defense, Norris offered a sincere apology to the entire organisation. I can't attempt what I did. I should never have attempted it in the first place, even if the move was on, Norris stated. I've simply got to think more of the team that I represent rather than myself. It was a mistake on my part and I let down the team. So I first of all apologise to all of them. I owe them all an apology, and I'll do better next time.
