The Formula 1 weekend at Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace Interlagos brought a wave of mixed emotions for Kimi Antonelli, who is currently celebrating a monumental world championship campaign. Despite the overarching success of sealing the constructors' crown, the Italian prodigy could not hide his fierce frustration after car handling gremlins and a sudden spin stripped him of a very likely Grand Prix victory.

Having launched brilliantly from the front row, the Mercedes star snatched the lead away from pole-sitter Lando Norris on intermediate tyres. He quickly established a healthy cushion over the chasing pack during the opening stints, managing his pace expertly before the crucial switch to slick tyres drastically altered grip levels and exposed sudden mechanical instability.

Midway through the stint, Antonelli began reporting strange handling characteristics, noting that the car felt like it was pulling to one side under acceleration and behaving erratically through high-speed left-hand corners. On lap 20, the rear axle suddenly snapped without any prior warning, triggering a costly spin at Turn 1 that handed the race lead away and dropped him squarely into the clutches of the chasing contenders.
"I'm very disappointed for the race. I'm very angry to be fair, but I'm going to put all this aside for now because the team clinched the title," Antonelli stated following the dramatic showdown. "We clinched the title for the team, and they all deserve it and I'm very proud to be part of this group and this team who has done and still does so much for me and I'm very happy for them."
While the ensuing tyre vibrations and balance degradation made his recovery drive an uphill battle, late adjustments on fresh soft compounds allowed him to showcase genuine raw pace. The team's engineers are now diving deep into telemetry and suspension geometry to uncover the exact cause of the rear stability loss, ensuring the championship-winning outfit bounces back stronger in the remaining rounds.
