The Formula 1 paddock was once again treated to a lighthearted moment between global celebrity culture and elite motorsport as Kim Kardashian playfully referenced her ongoing saga with Mercedes rising star Kimi Antonelli.
While attending the glamorous Singapore Grand Prix weekend at the Marina Bay street circuit, the reality TV billionaire bumped into the championship leader on the red carpet. Throwing her hands up in a defensive yet humorous gesture, she joked with the young Italian driver, Nooo, Kimi, I don't dare to touch your towel this time.
This lighthearted exchange harks back to the viral Towel-Gate incident from the Monaco Grand Prix earlier in June. Following Antonelli's dominant victory through the streets of Monte Carlo, Kardashian was accidentally caught on camera swiping the race winner's official cool-down towel to wipe her brow before walking away.
The moment quickly turned into a viral social media joke, with the Mercedes digital crew publishing clips of the teenager searching for his missing item. Proving she was entirely in on the joke, Kardashian later surprised the driver with a custom-embroidered replacement towel ahead of the Barcelona round.
Away from the paddock entertainment, the actual race in Singapore brought intense on-track action. Antonelli successfully battled severe tyre wear and high temperatures to claim a hard-fought third-place finish, retaining his commanding lead in the world drivers' championship standings.
