Juha Kankkunen has delivered a blunt assessment of Oliver Solberg after the Toyota Gazoo Racing driver suffered another retirement following a crash on Friday at Acropolis Rally Greece.
Solberg ran off the road on SS7 after already losing significant time to a puncture earlier in the day. Although the accident caused little damage to the car, it became stranded on the roadside bank, forcing the Swede to retire.
"I've seen what happened. It was his own mistake. I don't understand what happened there. What can I really say? He still has a lot to learn. Oliver isn't ready yet," said Kankkunen.

The retirement marked Solberg's fifth from his last six WRC rallies. Kankkunen believes the young driver now needs to focus on understanding why the same type of mistakes continue to happen rather than concentrating only on results.
"This is certainly difficult for him. He needs to get his head right and think things through properly. Is it a lack of concentration, or are they simply driving mistakes? Or is he trying too hard? That's something he has to figure out for himself," he added.
The comments represent Toyota's clearest message to Solberg so far this season. While his pace has rarely been questioned, Kankkunen believes consistency and eliminating avoidable errors will be crucial if the Swede is to fulfil his potential in the remaining WRC rounds.
