World championship leader Jorge Martin is now fully shifting his focus toward one of his favored hunting grounds ahead of this weekend's action. Heading into the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, the rider carries positive momentum following a challenging yet rewarding weekend at Motegi in Japan, delivering crucial results for the Noale-based factory squad.
Back at the Indonesian venue last season, Jorge Martin suffered a costly mistake by crashing on the opening lap while leading the Sprint race. However, he bounced back in style the next day by securing a vital Grand Prix victory in his intense championship battle against title rival Francesco Bagnaia.
Entering the 2026 campaign, the competitive landscape at the sharp end of the grid has proven to be fiercely unpredictable. Defying initial expectations, Jorge Martin is not only heavily involved in the title fight but currently holds the lead in the world standings. Nevertheless, his extremely narrow margin over closest challenger Marc Marquez demands absolute focus at every single round.
His impressive performances aboard his new machinery have injected a wave of high motivation into the team garage. Achieving strong results in Japan proved that technical development is moving in the right direction, even though the track's layout had historically presented difficulties for their machinery.
