Jorge Martin has moved to the top of the 2026 MotoGP World Championship standings following the Assen MotoGP. The Aprilia Racing rider now leads the championship with 193 points, seven clear of teammate Marco Bezzecchi.
The change at the top came after Bezzecchi crashed out on lap two at Assen, while Martin maximised the opportunity by securing a third-place finish. The result restored Martin to the championship lead and further highlighted Aprilia's consistency throughout the opening half of the season.

The title fight remains extremely close. Fabio Di Giannantonio sits third with 177 points, just 16 behind Martin. Maiden MotoGP winner Ai Ogura climbed to fourth on 168 points after his Assen victory, leaving him only 25 points behind the championship leader.

Marc Marquez completes the top five with 153 points. Although the Ducati Lenovo Team rider had been in strong form over recent rounds, his Assen result leaves him 40 points adrift of Martin heading into the next event.
Further down the order, Raul Fernandez has climbed to sixth after winning the Sprint and finishing second in the Dutch Grand Prix. The Trackhouse Aprilia rider has 138 points, ahead of Pedro Acosta on 133 and Francesco Bagnaia on 130 after both riders retired at Assen.
The battle in the midfield is also tightening. Alex Marquez occupies ninth place with 78 points, only two ahead of teammate Fermin Aldeguer. Luca Marini, Enea Bastianini and Brad Binder remain closely matched inside the top 13.
Assen also brought little change for Yamaha's riders in the standings. Fabio Quartararo remains 14th with 45 points, while Toprak Razgatlioglu has 11 points after another race compromised by technical issues.
The championship now heads into a short break before the German MotoGP at Sachsenring on 10-12 July. With only seven points separating the top two and the top eight covered by 63 points, the battle for the 2026 MotoGP title is set to intensify during the second half of the season.
