The 2026 MotoGP world championship battle is officially heating up as Jorge Martin delivers a sharp response to his primary rival, Marc Marquez. Psychological warfare between the two premier class heavyweights is intensifying as the paddock arrives at the iconic Phillip Island circuit for the upcoming Australian Grand Prix weekend.
The war of words ignited after Marquez claimed a moral victory in the previous Indonesian GP. The multi-time world champion felt satisfied leaving Mandalika with the exact same two-point deficit to the Aprilia rider as he had before the race weekend, keeping the championship pressure firmly on the reigning front-runners.
Responding to those remarks, Martin brushed off the past events in Indonesia and immediately shifted his complete attention to the upcoming challenge in Australia. The Spanish rider insisted that he squeezed every ounce of performance out of his machine during the last round, securing valuable points and a podium finish despite struggling with a tire pressure issue during the Sprint.
Speaking to the official MotoGP channel, Martin made it clear that he felt fast and ready, asserting that without the technical setback in the Sprint race, victory would have been his. That unwavering self-belief serves as a crucial foundation as he prepares to tackle the high-speed demands of the Phillip Island layout.
Looking ahead to the on-track action, Martin anticipates intense group battles due to the tighter performance margins among riders at the Australian venue. Acknowledging the unpredictable weather, he emphasized the importance of finishing both races intelligently while admitting that extending his points advantage over Marquez would be a welcome bonus.
