Jake Dixon is set to tackle another new track in the 2026 WorldSBK season, the Cremona Circuit, after completing a one-day test last week. The Honda rider is coming off his most promising WorldSBK round to date at Magny-Cours, where he consistently ran in the top 10 throughout the weekend.
Ahead of the Italian Round, Dixon and the Honda team tested at Cremona to adapt to the circuit layout. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't entirely cooperative. Nevertheless, Dixon remained optimistic as he got more dry laps than expected.
“It was a good test,” Dixon said. “In the end, we got more dry laps than expected, considering the forecast, so that was lucky. In the afternoon it really rained hard, but we decided to do some wet laps as well, so I think it was good. But let’s see for the race. We have one week off now to recover from a busy few days and then we go again, looking to keep improving step by step.”
His teammate, Somkiat Chantra, also found value in the test. The Thai rider felt he was able to find a decent setup in both dry and wet conditions. “First we tried, as always, to adapt the bike and also work on the setup to prepare for the race in ten days’ time,” Chantra explained. “We identified a setup that is not so bad, but we also had to adapt to the mixed conditions of course, and this changed our working schedule. But anyway, it hasn’t gone badly. We also have some good settings in both the rain and the dry. With the dry setup, I think we’re at about 80 per cent, and as for the rest we will adapt during the race weekend.”
Dixon, who had previously tested at Magny-Cours with Honda during the summer break, hopes a similar approach at Cremona will help him be competitive. He acknowledges that Cremona is a new track for him, but the test at least provided an initial feel for the circuit's characteristics.
With a strong showing at Magny-Cours, Dixon now has positive momentum. He is determined to continue improving and achieve better results at the Italian Round. Meanwhile, Chantra, who is also still adapting to WorldSBK, will use the remaining time to fine-tune his bike setup.
Competition in the 2026 WorldSBK season is intensifying, and for the Honda team, tests like this are key to staying competitive. Dixon and Chantra will be back in action at Cremona, where they hope to turn potential into tangible results on track.
