Formula E, Sportrik Media - Jake Dennis has committed his long-term future to Andretti Global after signing a multi-year contract extension, securing his place with the American outfit ahead of Formula E’s transition to the Gen4 era.

The Season 9 world champion’s previous deal had been set to expire at the end of the current campaign. The new agreement ensures Dennis will remain at the centre of Andretti’s competitive programme as the championship prepares for a major technical shift, with the team expected to operate as a Nissan customer under the forthcoming regulations.

Dennis is currently in his sixth season with Andretti, having joined in Season 7 when the team partnered with BMW Motorsport. Over that period, he has developed into one of the series’ benchmark performers and has firmly established himself as the squad’s lead driver during the Gen3 cycle.

In an official statement released by the team and reported across Formula E’s media channels, Dennis expressed his enthusiasm about continuing the partnership.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be signing a multi-year deal with Andretti Global. For me, it made perfect sense to continue our partnership and my career with the team, a team which I’ve been with from the start of my Formula E career.

“The belief the team has shown in me over the years has been incredible, and that trust means a huge amount. We’ve built something really strong together, and I’m proud to continue that journey with a group of people I know so well and genuinely enjoy working with.

“There have been so many great memories together, and I’m confident we can continue our success into the future.”

The extension provides strategic stability for Andretti at a crucial juncture. The current Gen3 regulation cycle concludes at the end of the season, with Gen4 set to introduce higher power outputs, increased regenerative capacity and further technical complexity. Retaining an experienced and proven race winner is viewed internally as fundamental to maintaining continuity during that transition.

Team principal Roger Griffiths emphasised Dennis’ central role in the team’s competitive rise, in comments issued via the official team release and circulated to international motorsport media.

“I am beyond pleased to be able to make this announcement. At the time, when the team, along with BMW, initially partnered with Jake, we never could have imagined how the relationship would develop.

“Jake has been an integral part of Andretti Formula E’s transformation into one of the series’ leading teams of today. His commitment to us, his belief in the team and ours in him, is one of the key reasons for all of the success we have been fortunate enough to have experienced together.

“We look forward to closing out the current season as strong as we started it before transitioning to Season 13 together.”

Dennis’ influence extends beyond results alone. Throughout the Gen3 era, he has been instrumental in refining race energy management strategies — a decisive performance factor in modern Formula E. His analytical approach to Attack Mode deployment, regeneration balance and late-race energy optimisation has consistently positioned Andretti within podium contention.

From a technical perspective, continuity at driver level is increasingly valuable as software calibration, battery deployment mapping and regenerative efficiency become more tightly integrated with driving style. The move to Gen4 is expected to amplify those demands, with higher output levels requiring precise energy recovery coordination and strategic flexibility.

For Andretti, the extension signals both confidence and intent. Amid broader shifts in manufacturer alignments within the championship, securing a former world champion through the regulatory reset provides competitive reassurance and long-term planning stability.

With the current season still underway, the immediate objective remains to conclude the Gen3 era on a competitive note. However, the confirmation of Dennis’ multi-year commitment offers clarity for the future and positions Andretti with a proven leader as Formula E prepares to enter its next technological chapter.
