The Moto2 field rolled out onto the scorching asphalt of the Mandalika Circuit for a crucial practice session where a top-14 position was essential to secure an automatic spot in Saturday's second qualifying. Drama unfolded immediately as the session got underway under intense track conditions.
Championship leader Manuel Gonzalez experienced a bizarre moment when his helmet visor flew off before he could even complete his first flying lap. The discarded plastic part on the racing line at Turn 9 forced race control to deploy the first red flag of the session to clear the track safely.

Once the session resumed with 35 minutes on the clock, Izan Guevara set a blistering pace after previously leading the morning's opening practice. The Spaniard, eager to close the gap in the championship standings, displayed incredible speed that came agonizingly close to breaking the official lap record.

Midway through the session, Deniz Oncu suffered a heavy crash at Turn 14, completely destroying his Elf Marc VDS machine and forcing him down into the Q1 battle. Just as the action was intensifying, a bizarre technical blackout affecting both race control and the timekeeping system forced a lengthy 30-minute stoppage.
Following the lengthy delay, the riders returned to the track for a frantic final dash. When the dust settled, Izan Guevara successfully held onto the premier spot at the top of the timesheets ahead of a thrilling qualifying showdown.
