Moto2, Sportrik Media - Izan Guevara delivered a dominant performance to secure pole position for the 2026 French Moto2 Grand Prix at Le Mans on Saturday (9 May 2026) after setting a best lap of 1m33.91s with BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2.
The Spanish rider controlled the Q2 session from the opening runs and maintained his advantage until the chequered flag, giving Yamaha an important pole position during one of the closest qualifying sessions of the season.
Daniel Holgado of CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team claimed second place just 0.086s behind Guevara, while Filip Salac secured third for OnlyFans American Racing Team, 0.110s off pole.

The qualifying session proved exceptionally tight, with the top five riders separated by less than two tenths of a second. Barry Baltus and Manuel Gonzalez both ended the session 0.166s behind the pole sitter.
From a technical perspective, Guevara looked particularly strong under heavy braking zones and acceleration exits through Le Mans’ slow-speed corners. The stop-and-go nature of the circuit appeared to suit Yamaha’s package throughout the session.
David Alonso continued his consistent form by qualifying seventh, while Collin Veijer placed Red Bull KTM Ajo inside the top ten in tenth position.
Meanwhile, championship contender Aron Canet struggled throughout Q2 and could only manage 17th on the grid.
The result gives Guevara a major opportunity to fight for victory at Le Mans and strengthen his position in the 2026 Moto2 championship battle heading deeper into the European phase of the season.
