Izan Guevara has officially become part of the MotoGP 2027 grid. Yamaha confirmed on Thursday (Aug 27) that the 2022 Moto3 world champion will step up to the premier class with Prima Pramac Yamaha, filling the seat left by Jack Miller. This announcement is one of the most anticipated in the rider market, underlining Yamaha's new direction in nurturing young talent.
The decision is not without reason. After two difficult seasons in Moto2, Guevara joined the Pramac Yamaha project in 2025 and immediately showed rapid progress. The highlight came with his first intermediate-class victory at the Valencia GP that year—a result that marked a turning point in his career and convinced Yamaha to include him in its young rider development program.
The 2026 season has been proof of his consistency. Guevara has consistently fought at the front, collecting wins, podiums, and pole positions. That impressive form made him a strong candidate for promotion, aligning with Yamaha's ambitious regeneration plans. At 22, the rider from Palma de Mallorca is ready for the biggest challenge of his career.

Jack Miller's departure from Prima Pramac Yamaha after the end of 2026 opened the door for Guevara. Miller, who played a key role in developing the bike and team structure over two years, will leave the seat now owned by the young Spaniard. Miller's contributions will not be forgotten, and Yamaha has expressed gratitude for his dedication.
Guevara's promotion also coincides with a major shift in MotoGP. In 2027, the premier class will introduce new regulations with 850cc engines, fundamentally changing the technical landscape. This is both a challenge and an opportunity for Guevara to adapt quickly and compete from the start.
With this announcement, Yamaha shows its seriousness about building for the future. Guevara is expected to become one of MotoGP's new protagonists, bringing his talent and adaptability to the highest level. Will he follow in the footsteps of legends? Only time will tell.
