Isack Hadjar Slams F1 2027 Sprint Format and Claims It Requires Luck
TO NEWS OVERVIEW
For Hadjar, an issue with the Red Bull ended his involvement

Isack Hadjar has launched a scathing critique of Formula 1 Sprint races following a difficult Singapore Grand Prix, claiming that the format forces drivers to rely on sheer luck rather than proper engineering work.

The Singapore race weekend proved to be an uphill battle for the young Red Bull driver. From excessive bottoming in the sole Free Practice session to power unit failures, Hadjar spent the entire event wrestling his RB22 machine, ultimately suffering a retirement in the Sprint before salvaging a tenth-place finish in the Grand Prix.

"That’s the problem with these weekends where you don’t get to work on the car," Hadjar said after qualifying in Singapore, pointing out the severe limitations imposed by the modern Sprint weekend schedule.

Discourse around Sprint events has persisted since their introduction, with F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali consistently defending the concept as a high-entertainment package for television audiences. However, drivers and purists remain skeptical, particularly as new regulations demand deeper data gathering.

With only a single practice session available before competitive action begins, teams are left with virtually no room to test development parts or adjust car setups properly, turning the race weekend into a gamble rather than a true test of motorsport prowess.
