Ingram Wins Wet Silverstone Thriller, Sutton Second in BTCC

Tom Ingram mastered the wet conditions at Silverstone to claim a commanding victory in the third BTCC race, finishing nearly five seconds ahead of five-time champion Ash Sutton. The race delivered thrilling action and strategic battles throughout the field.

Aiden Moffat started from pole after the reverse-grid draw but ran wide at Copse, allowing Aron Taylor-Smith and Dan Rowbottom to surge ahead. Rowbottom took the lead at Luffield on lap two.

Sutton, fresh from clinching the title in Race 2, began his charge by passing Taylor-Smith for P4 with a trademark switchback at Luffield on lap four. Meanwhile, Moffat fought back and reclaimed the lead from Rowbottom at Brooklands on lap six.

Ingram and Sutton then engaged in a fierce battle. Ingram passed Rowbottom around the outside at Woodcote to lead into Copse on lap nine. Sutton followed suit, overtaking Moffat for P2 on lap 13. Ingram then pulled away, setting the fastest lap as the track improved.

Further back, Gordon Shedden put on a strong drive, climbing to fourth, while Dan Cammish completed the top five. The race also saw technical issues for Dan Lloyd, who was uncertain about his engine, and Osamu Kawashima, who did not start due to engine problems.

Ingram's win solidifies his prowess in wet conditions, while Sutton remains competitive despite already securing the championship. The Silverstone race once again showcased the intense competition that defines the BTCC.
