IndyCar Driver Jack Harvey Announces Cancer Diagnosis and Vows 2027 Comeback

The motorsport community has rallied around Jack Harvey after the British driver publicly announced that he has been diagnosed with cancer. The 33-year-old shared the challenging news via social media, immediately demonstrating an unwavering determination to tackle his health battle head-on while keeping his professional racing ambitions firmly on track.

Over recent years, Harvey has successfully balanced dual roles within the IndyCar paddock. Alongside his driving duties, he spent the last two seasons as a pit reporter for Fox as the network commenced its broadcast partnership with the American open-wheel championship. Although he has not competed on a full-time schedule during that span, he maintained an active on-track presence by starting consecutive Indianapolis 500 races for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing.

During his tenure with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, Harvey shared the pit lane with notable champions. He served as a teammate to Ryan Hunter-Reay in 2025 before partnering with Conor Daly through the 2026 campaign. Harvey's journey in the top-tier American series originally kicked off back in 2017, culminating in his first full-time campaign alongside Meyer Shank Racing in 2020.

"My entire career has been about fighting for what’s next. The next opportunity. The next chance to prove myself," Jack Harvey stated in his heartfelt message. He continued, "Life has delivered a new fight to my doorstep. I have recently been diagnosed with cancer. My goals for 2027 have not changed. I plan to be on the grid in St. Pete and strapping back into a race car this May in preparation for the Indianapolis 500."

Harvey acknowledged the tremendous support system surrounding him, including his family, friends, Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, Fox, and the broader IndyCar community. Showing the ultimate racer's mindset, he concluded that he has never backed away from a challenge in his life, and this new chapter will be no exception.
