Honda has officially announced that Red Bull will return as a sponsor of its factory MotoGP team starting from the 2027 season. The deal marks the end of a four-year absence for the Austrian energy drink brand from the HRC garage, after it originally left Honda in 2023 following Marc Marquez's departure to Gresini.
Red Bull is no stranger to Honda. The initial partnership ran from 2015 to 2023, when Marquez was still the team's icon. The Spaniard's move to Gresini opened a loophole for Red Bull to terminate its agreement with HRC. Now, after four years, Honda has confirmed that Red Bull will once again adorn the fairings of its RC213V from 2027, coinciding with the introduction of the 850cc engine regulations.
HRC President Koji Watanabe welcomed Red Bull's return. “Going into the new championship, with the 850cc bikes, it is essential to have partners who share the same goals and ambitions. I have no doubt about what we can achieve together, and I know we will be able to give our fans some incredible moments,” he said in an official statement.

The agreement is expected to involve a greater commitment than before. Red Bull logos are likely to become more prominent, extending beyond the fairings and forks of the new prototype. This aligns with Honda's reorganisation period, where marketing is taking on an increasingly important role, including a special livery to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Honda's premier-class debut in 1966.
Another interesting knock-on effect concerns rider sponsorships. Since team agreements take precedence over personal contracts, Fabio Quartararo—who is set to become Honda's flagship rider in 2027—will have to end his relationship with Monster Energy. Monster has sponsored him personally since his premier-class debut in 2019 with Yamaha. Motorsport.com understands that Quartararo had to pay a sum to terminate his agreement with the claw-mark brand for next season, with the funds coming from Honda.
Meanwhile, Monster is reportedly set to end its role as Yamaha's title sponsor, a position it has held since 2019 when it replaced Movistar. The US company joined Aprilia midway through this season as title sponsor of the Noale manufacturer's factory team, while also maintaining a smaller presence with the Ducati factory team.
With Red Bull's return to Honda, the MotoGP sponsorship landscape is set for a significant shift. Red Bull and Monster, the two leading players in the energy drinks market, account for much of the grid's sponsorship. Red Bull currently sponsors the KTM factory team and Tech 3, but its presence at Tech 3 looks set to end next year as it shifts focus to Honda.
For Honda, this partnership signals ambition to bounce back after several difficult seasons. With the new technical regulations in 2027, Honda hopes to return to the front, and Red Bull's support is expected to strengthen the team's resources, both financially and from a marketing perspective. This decision also reflects Honda's long-term strategy in facing a new MotoGP era.
